Global Muir
We offer here pages featuring links about the geography of John Muir – around the world.
Born in Scotland, he emigrated to Wisconsin as an 11 year old boy.
He sojourned in Canada for two years, then set out to go to the Amazon. Waylaid by illness in Florida, he went to California, and traveled to Alaska many times. He visited forests and parks in dozens of U.S. states.
He later traveled to all continents of the world (except Antarctica).
Muir’s books have been translated into a multitude of languages, and in recent years there are an increasing number of biographies about him written in languages other than English. We plan to list more of these over time on this site.
